The Impact of LPG on Food Processing

Fueling Flavours

The case study of our esteemed clients in food processing who choose to use LPG for snack food production. Discover how the precise control and consistent heat offered by LPG enhanced product quality.

Abstract

A leading snack manufacturer faced challenges in selecting an optimal fuel source for its Gujarat-based food processing facility. Initial concerns over capital expenditure, installation, and maintenance led to a preference for PNG/LNG. However, doubts about securing a reliable LPG supplier with efficient and sustainable solutions persisted. SUPERGAS emerged as the preferred partner due to its comprehensive offering, technical expertise, and strong support function. The successful implementation of an LPG solution within a tight timeframe of five months, including secondary piping, demonstrates SUPERGAS's ability to deliver value and meet customer needs effectively.

LPG for Food Processing

LPG is a versatile fuel with a significant role in the food processing industry. Its efficiency, cleanliness, and controllability make it an ideal choice for various cooking and heating processes. LPG burners offer precise temperature regulation, essential for achieving the perfect crispiness and golden-brown colour for nachos and pop rings.

Proper temperature control using LPG helps minimize oil breakdown, extending its lifespan and improving product quality. LPG ovens provide even heat distribution, crucial for baking pop rings with consistent texture and flavour. Its role in powering the equipment that cooks and prepares these snacks is essential for achieving the desired taste, texture, and quality.

Benefits of Partnering with SUPERGAS

The customer sought an economical LPG solution, initially turning to local vendors who offered free installation. SUPERGAS outlined both the tangible and intangible benefits of their LPG services, presenting a compelling BOM (Build-Own-Maintain) model for an 8x450 Maxima (HLV 250kg/hr.) LPG manifold.

This scheme required no upfront capital expenditure from the customer, with a manageable monthly rental and payment for LPG used. Additionally, SUPERGAS installed their PESO and BIS-certified Continuous Gas Monitoring System (CGMS Plus) to ensure vigilant safety against gas leaks, complete with an alarm and SMS notification system, securing both operational efficiency and peace of mind.
